Local and District NCRSP Records Needed for Future References

There are various records which should be filed by years in sequential order in each Local and District Unit of the NCRSP.  The Local and District Presidents are responsible for seeing that the records are collected, filed, and secured in a safe location.  The records include: 

   List of new retirees each year, with name, address, telephone number and email address for each person,
   RSP Membership List for each year,
   Necrology records with newspaper obituaries of members,
   Secretary’s reports,
   Treasurer’s reports,
   District and Unit Constitutions, Policies & Procedures, etc.
Yearbook
   Scrapbooks that contain newsletters, agendas, highlights, pictures, etc., and
   Scholarship recipients, names, year awarded, information, achievements, and pictures, and/or record of any other large scale project.

Some Activities to Celebrate American Education Week

Give an apple to each school personnel.
Put an individual wrapped tea bag and a poem in a plastic bag for each school personnel.
Compose a poem entitled, "I Mint", describing all the things you meant to do or say to school personnel, and then staple a candy mint on each one.
Purchase "Wow Gum" and attach a note for each school personnel, or use an address label to attach a note to a Hershey's Kiss.
Send each school personnel a "Thank You" note for all the things they do.
Give a small gift, or compose a small "Goodie Bag" with an assortment of donated small items in it.
Serve breakfast or refreshments to school personnel at selected schools or at special meetings each year on a rotating base.
Write an article for the local newspaper pertaining to the event.
Donate a book, or other school supplies to selected school(s).
Offer to volunteer in the school of your choice during that week.
Form a School Grounds Committee, and offer to do yard work or wash windows.
Donate a flower, bush, or tree which can be planted on a school's campus.
Contact school principals and ask what they would like for local members of the NCRSP do.

Some Ways to Celebrate Children's Book Week

There are various ways to celebrate Children's Book Week which occurs in November of each year.  These include volunteering to read books to children at a school, in a hospital, or at an after-school program; collecting books for a local homeless shelter, a school, or hospital; etc.  For future suggestions and information about Children's Book Week, please go to: http://www.cbcbooks.org/cbw/celebrate/25.html.
