NCRSP 'rocks' Public Policy with the Advocacy / Legislative Team!


Charge / Mission Purpose:  ✔️To work for state and federal legislation to improve retirement living for members of the Division. ✔️To monitor meetings of the General Assembly and of the Boards of Trustees of the State Retirement System and of the State Health Plan. ✔️To monitor and speak about other quality of life legislation which affects seniors. ✔️To monitor federal legislative issues affecting seniors. Responsibilities: ✔️Plan and develop the annual legislative program with the Executive Director and Lobbyist. ✔️Present the legislative program to the Executive Board for its approval at each fall Executive Board meeting. ✔️Coordinate the efforts of the state and local leaders in implementing the stated goals of the legislative program. ✔️Assist with development of grassroots lobbying and organizing plan suitable for NCRSP Members. ✔️Request inputs to the development of the legislative program from the local unit and district legislative committees. ✔️Communicate to the local unit and district legislative committees how to build support for the legislative program among their state legislators, urging these committees to contact their legislators to secure their support for the program. ✔️Urge the local units to contact their legislators to secure their support for the program. ✔️ Assist the Division’s lobbyists as needed during the meetings of the General Assembly. ✔️Submit relevant articles for Panorama via the Chair
